Job Title: Site Supervisor - FOCUS Summer Feeding Program
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Reports to: National Summer Feeding Operations Manager
About Us
FOCUS North America is a faith-based national organization that provides feeding, employment, housing, healthcare and educational services to the homeless and working poor in America. FOCUS has operations and programs in numerous cities across the United States. All of FOCUS North America's services are provided without discrimination of any kind and there is no faith commitment required from anyone who received assistance. FOCUS' goal is to sustainable transform the lives of the homeless and working poor, moving them from dependency to self-sufficiency.
About the Program
The FOCUS Summer Feeding Program is a national program aimed at reducing the “silent crisis” of child hunger in America. Childhood hunger is a problem that affects every community in our country. During the school year, approximately 21 million children in the United States receive free and reduced-price lunches, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National School Lunch Program. But, when school is out, many of these children go hungry because they have no consistent access to healthy meals. The FOCUS Summer Feeding Program is designed to provide children in need with nutritious meals all summer long and to engage our vast volunteer network in this effort to help children.
About This Role
To support Summer Feeding activities, FOCUS seeks to hire a Site Supervisor. This is a part-time position of approximately 24-30 hours per week, for a fixed period of time – approximately from May 15th to September 2nd , 2017. The Site Supervisor will manage day-to-day activities of FOCUS’ feeding program in Pittsburgh. Working with FOCUS’ corporate and institutional partners, the Site Supervisor will engage local volunteers and parishes to prepare and serve approximately 40 to 150 (city/site dependent) cold meals each weekday to a pre-identified group of children in need. With morning and afternoon hours and an hourly pay rate in the $12 - $15 per hour range, this position is ideal for school teachers or college/grad students on summer vacation.
